connectLMS is an easy-to-use, light-weight Learning Management System (LMS). It allows students to participate in courses online, download course resources and complete lessons over multiple visits. Students can track their progress across 1 or more courses in their user profile page.
connectLMS is ideal for schools and colleges, for in-house staff training, or for training organisations offering commercial courses online.

ConnectLMS is based on the SCORM 1.2 e-learning standard. It allows SCORM-compliant e-learning packages to be published simply and quickly on your e-learning site, with the results being tracked and stored against your personal profile as you'd expect.
ConnectLMS is a Joomla! 1.5 native component, that is simple to use. It is a fully SCORM 1.2 compliant e-learning management solution.
Products available (and cost)
Please note that the unlimited trial version will only work locally. That means that the URI used to access your local site must start with 'http://localhost'. Any other domain will require a licence key before ConnectLMS will work.
The limited trial version will work for 30 days on any domain. During this time it will advise onscreen that it is running in evaluation mode and provide a countdown of how many days are left before the licence expires.
While testing the trial versions, ConnectLMS retains full functionality so you can fully test out the product before purchasing.
When you purchase ConnectLMS we licence it to your domain name. Your domain will be used to generate a personal licence key. You will need to enter this licence key into ConnectLMS once you have installed it.

What is it?
ConnectLMS allows for the management of students, teachers, courses and lessons using a simple interface (both frontend and through the administrator panel) while providing all the complexity required in a fully featured eLMS.
How it works
ConnectLMS is designed to be simple to use while being a fully functional SCORM 1.2 compliant eLMS.
The system consists of a few Joomla! 1.5 extensions that can be installed into any Joomla! 1.5 site to provide a fully featured SCORM 1.2 compliant e-learning management system.
Courses can be set up by an administrator and then managed by teachers in both the Joomla! Front end and administration area. Once set up you you can simply upload your lessons and assign them to your course for students to take part in them.
Students are able to enrol onto courses by either registering for a free course or purchasing a pay for commercial course via a third party subscription component like Joomsuite Member.
ConnectLMS includes a valuable statistics system allowing teachers and students to plot progress through a course as well as the ability to download certificates upon course completion.
Requirements
- A Joomla 1.5.9 installation or higher
- Our version of the xajax plugin (provided as part of the package)
- SCORM 1.2 Compliant Lessons
Trial Versions
ConnectLMS is available in 2 trial versions, as well as the fully licenced product. Please click the 'Products available' heading for more about how to run ConnectLMS in trial mode and to download your preferred version.
The trial versions of ConnectLMS retain full functionality.

Whats new in version 2
Courses - lessons - modules
One of the greatest enhancements is in the new three-tier structure that courses now take on. This structure allows for a course to consist of unlimited lessons and each lesson can consist of unlimited modules. This offers huge flexibility when arranging the structure of your courses.
Charge for courses
ConnectLMS can now be integrated with subscription components to allow for the delivery of commercial courses. Joomsuite Member is supported out of the box, please contact us if you require additional subscription options.
Learning resources
Supporting documents (Word documents, PDFs etc) can now be added to courses and made available for download to students and/or teachers.
What's coming in version 3?
Some of the enhancements we are working on including in the next version of
connectLMS are:
- No end date to a course
- Integration with other subscription systems
- Lessons and modules can be ordered and rules added so one lesson cannot be taken until another has first been completed
Upgrading
Follow these steps if you have previously installed ConnectLMS version 1.0
- Uninstall version 1 of connectLMS using the Joomla! component uninstall feature
- Delete all database tables relating to connectLMS. These start with "connectlms_" after the Joomla! prefix (by default, this is 'jos_')
- Install the ConnectLMS component (com_connectlms.zip)
- Set up your courses using the step-by-step guide in the Admin-Components-connectLMS-About screen
To upgrade from 2.0 to 2.0.1, please visit the support forum, and download the attached zip file. Install the upgrade via Extensions -> Install / Uninstall.
